Rabbi Dr. Berel Wein Z”L honored JEIC by being our scholar-in-residence for the 2014 Innovators Retreat in Bal Harbour. Among the insights he shared, Rabbi Dr. Wein explained that since 1945, Jews in North America have engaged in a Jewish educational experiment called “day schools.” Like every experimental process, the researchers perform each trial, collect data, and incorporate their new knowledge into the next phase of the process.
Rabbi Dr. Wein’s message resonates with JEIC’s deep belief in teaching ancient Jewish texts, while continuing to investigate the best and most personal way to teach it to the next generation. We mourn Rabbi Dr. Wein’s passing and will continue to embrace his advice and wisdom.
