Chutzpah-Deck: Game-Changers for Day Schools

At JEIC, we’re rethinking what Jewish education can be. Our vision centers on student-centered and God-centered learning—an approach that values each student as a unique individual and focuses on effort, growth, and meaning, not just grades. We believe in nurturing a deeper sense of connection to God, Jewish wisdom and tradition, and encouraging students to find personal relevance in their learning.

A Shift in School Culture

Our hope is to inspire a broader shift in school culture—one that brings dignity, purpose, and soul into daily life alongside academics. Making this vision real takes partnership, creativity, and support from the whole school community.

Introducing… the Chutzpah-Deck!

To help bring these ideas to life, we created Chutzpah-Deck: Game-Changers for Day Schools. This set of 54 cards offers practical ways to try out student-centered and God-centered learning, and spark conversations about meaningful change.

The cards are designed for use in professional development, staff meetings, or classrooms—wherever there’s room to experiment and grow.

Here is What Educational Leaders Are Saying About Chutzpah-Deck…

"The Chutzpah-deck was a great resource for the participants of our Student Centered Learning Network this past year. The cards covered many of the tools we introduced over the months. They now have an easy reference guide to use when deciding on which strategy to implement in their classroom. The cards are convenient and easy to use."
—Gary Pretsfelder, Senior Manager, Professional Learning and Growth, New York (Day Schools),
The Jewish Education Project

“As someone who trains school leaders and educators, I find the Chutzpah Deck both fun and profoundly useful. It sparks meaningful conversations among administrators and teachers about the deepest reasons we entered the field of Jewish education—our shared desire to create schools where children find rich meaning in their tradition and are inspired to become the best version of themselves. I love how the deck’s seemingly simple questions open the door to such productive and important discussions.”
—Tikvah Wiener, CEO, Kadima

“In my work with Jewish day schools, I’ve seen how these cards spark meaningful conversations and concrete action. They’re practical, inspiring, and adaptableperfect for making learning more student-centered, deepening spiritual connection, and strengthening school systems.”
— Dr. Sarah Rubinson Levy, Sarah Rubinson Consulting + Contracting
